Week 9 - Web101

Have decided that real life uni has to be a lot easier than online. Other than a facebook group which are a fantastic bunch of nuts, I feel I am left floundering. I do not get the questions without a heap of drama. Why can't the questions be straight forward? Perhaps they are and it is just me... who knows.
The essay is due on Friday morning, and all I have are some scrappy notes. Although in saying that, someone posted something about the same topic I am doing and it has given me some ideas. Not bad seeing as we have had about 4 weeks to do the essay and here I am scrambling in the last week :(.
Listening to music from Greys Anatomy trying to get some focus... come on brain, you can do it!
Have decided that for my web presence, I am going to build a whole new website for my pixel site. I was given the go ahead as long as I do not change anything. So this 'should' be a piece of cake. We have to have 3 nodes and some other fancy words that I will have to google to find out what it means. My old pixel site has about 300 nodes, so coming up with 3 is no problem.

Edit: Finally finished my essay and handed it in late last night. Have a feeling I did not stay on track, but I did do the referencing the right way.. or did I? I checked and rechecked, so I hope I did not miss anything.

Week7 - 101

Finally got my results back for assignment one 8.5 out of 15. At first I was happy because its a pass, but then got very mad at myself for the stupid mistakes. Referencing, we all know in the bibliography its set out in alphabetical order, so why did I put it in a numbered order, and worse, I did not number it, I just assumed the person reading my paper would know that the first reference, was the first in the bibliography... *slap forehead DUH*. I also cut down the words due to the word count being only 750, and I lost marks due to the fact that I did not include enough information. Thankfully grammar and composition etc was fine, so I did learn something that stuck in SSK12 lol.
I do not think it helps, the fact that I felt I 'knew it all' before starting the unit. Not meaning I am being big headed, but I have already done two years of cert 4 in IT prior to this, but too long ago to count as anything. Plus the fact I have my own websites, domain names and the like, but the problem popped out when I realised that I do not know the terminology for my so called experience.
Now facing my essay which I finally decided it would be about Facebook, along with hundreds of other students quite likely to choose the same topic. Thankfully now I have an assessment back with very helpful comments, it gives me something to work on so I can hopefully produce an essay worth reading!
Oh and I found out for my web presence, I can use pixelling as my theme which is good as I am a pixeller from way back. So now to choose a new look website so I can dedicate it to my web presence. Pretty happy about that.... at the moment

Week 6 - Web101

Another Week Gone.. or is it two? - Web101
I now have a matter of days, in which to hand in an essay.
Choose one Web 2.0 platform discussed during module two and analyse the extent to which this platform has changed, and/or has the potential to change, the way people communicate and collaborate.
In all honesty, I had never heard of Web 2.0 before starting this unit. From what I have learnt already, it is to do with the interaction a person has with certain websites. Facebook for instance, where you can change the outcome of a page and share with others, without the need to be a web designer or a geek. Where you can play graphic rich games, altering the page as you go... ugh, something like that.
